Greek airports welcomed 2.1 million passengers in January 2019, thus starting the year with 9.7 percent traffic growth.
Αccording to data released by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, the total number of flights to Greek airports amounted to 22,652 (13,339 domestic flights and 9,313 international flights), showing an increase of 11,3 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2018 when 20,356 flights took place.
The total number of passengers in Greek airports during January 2019 increased by 9.7 percent to 2,162,670, compared to the same month last year (1,971,908 passengers).
More specifically, during the first month of this year, 190,762 more passengerspassed through Greek airports compared to January 2018.
In regards to arrivals and departures of foreign passengers, a 10.8 percent increase was recorded for January 2019, which corresponds to 1,158,506 passengers compared to January 2018 (1,045,981 passengers).
Arrivals of foreign passengers reached 556,188, up 10.2 percent from January 2018.
The airports of Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Rhodes and Chania recorded the largest passenger traffic in January.
Moreover, the airports of Mykonos, Kefalonia and Milos recorded the highest percentage increase in passengers for the first month of 2019.
