The Blue Caves got their name due to the dynamic reflections of the sea in the caves.
The caves can be visited many of them with a small to medium size boat, others are to be visited only by strong swimmers and divers. The Caves are situated between Agios Nikolaos and Skinari Cape. If do not want to go by boat you can reach them with your rental car by visiting a ‘The Small Mill’ (see link). On arriving walk down the pebble steps to the shore line. Here you will not find a beach, but a ponte to swim from. If you have children we advise to go by boat which most trips also combine both caves and Shipwreck.
Follow the main road to the North via the village of 'Katastari', keeping the sea to your right you will eventually reach the Northern Port of 'Skinari' or otherwise known as 'St. Nicholas Volimon'. From here you can get a small boat to take you to sea both the 'Blue Caves' & the 'Shipwreck' or you can drive a little more and see the caves from shore. Always remember to leave your car locked, in gear with hand brake on, lights switched off and keys stored somewhere safely. If you have an open top car close the roof for safety and possible rain shower.
