Take a drive in your hire car out to the bay of Laganas and from here hire your own speedboat and experience your own Robinson Crusoe day out. ‘Marathonisi’ also called Turtle Island, due to its shape, is situated in the bay of Laganas. Nature here has been left untouched and gives the visitor the experience of primitive beauty. A beautiful sandy beach to the northwest of the island allows the Caretta-Caretta sea turtles to nest on it. On the south there are two more accessible caves with a little shingle beach with a sheer cliff side rising up to 100 meters. The island is completely covered in dense vegetation and is inaccessible to anyone other than seafarers. A real gem, a must for all to visit and if your lucky you might even get a glance at a Caretta Careta turtle whilst sailing to the island.
You can get to 'Marathonisi' either by getting a boat from 'Aghios Sostis' or from 'Keri Lake'. Both places have small motor boats which you can rent to get there. Once you have your bost why not also visit the 'Keri Caves'. Take lots of sun lotion and refreshments as well as lots of spce for the amazing pictures you will be taking.
