We went exploring into Zakynthos town today.
A beautiful little working town. It is best to visit in the evening as it comes alive, buzzing with the lovely summer atmosphere.
Up to Bohali first to look down on the town from above. You can see the two square of St Markos and Solomos. We decided to go and see them at close quarters.
We parked on the see front, by the harbour. There were some amazing yachts there. We tried to see if there was anyone famous on board and took down the names of the boats to see who owned them!!!. Then we walked through Solomos square. The statue of the poet who wrote the Greek National Anthem is in the centre of the square. We walked along to the sqaure behind. St Markos is its name and there are some lovely cafe bars around the square. From here we walked down the main shopping street Alexandra Roma and bought lots of souveniers for the family. We found some lovely gold shops along the road too.
By now we were getting a bit hungry so decided to find somewhere nice to eat. That is when we discovered perfection. In the middle of town behind the square of St Markos is the Paradosiako taverna. A beautiful spot with an outdoor courtyard. You easily forget you are in the capital town. We were seated immediately by the friendly attentive staff.
The menu is simple but amazing. We had a selection of amazing starters followed by the most delicious main courses. Thankfully we had left just enough room for the deserts. They were fantastic. We decided to stay for a cocktail too and were not dissapointed.
We would highly reccomend a night out in Zakynthos town and definetly search out his little gem.
Have you ever walked along the streets, hungry for an amazing meal. You can smell the aroma of cooking...
